Connect WP Mail SMTP to Parcel Wing
You can keep WP Mail SMTP installed and send WordPress mail through Parcel Wing. Choose WP Mail SMTP's Other SMTP mailer, enter the settings below, and test the connection before switching production messages. You do not need to install a second SMTP plugin.
Before changing your WordPress mailer
Add the domain you use for site email to Parcel Wing, publish the requested DNS records, and wait for the sending domain to show as verified and ready. Then create an active API key in your Parcel Wing workspace. You'll use that key for SMTP authentication—not a mailbox password.
If your site already sends production mail through another service, record its existing settings first. Keep a way to restore them until you've tested both a WordPress email and your actual store or form workflow.
WP Mail SMTP settings
In the WordPress admin, open WP Mail SMTP → Settingsand select Other SMTP. Enter these settings:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Mailer | Other SMTP |
| SMTP Host | smtp.parcelwing.com |
| Encryption | TLS (STARTTLS) |
| SMTP Port | 587 |
| Authentication | On |
| SMTP Username | parcelwing |
| SMTP Password | An active Parcel Wing API key |
Set From Email to an address on your verified sending domain—for example, [email protected]. If another WordPress plugin replaces that address, consider the Force From Email option after confirming the intended sender. Save your settings before sending a test.
WP Mail SMTP's Other SMTP mailer stores SMTP credentials in your WordPress configuration. Restrict WordPress administrator access and protect your API key. WP Mail SMTP also documents an option toconfigure mailer credentials using constants. Rotate a key if you suspect exposure.
These steps use WP Mail SMTP's existing Other SMTP capability, not a special Parcel Wing mailer or an official partnership. See WP Mail SMTP's official Other SMTP guide for its current settings screens.
Test the WordPress-to-mailbox path
- In WordPress, open WP Mail SMTP → Tools → Email Testand send a message to an inbox you control.
- Check the test result. If it fails, preserve the exact error; troubleshoot the connection or sending-domain readiness below.
- Check the message in Parcel Wing's email events, then inspect the receiving inbox. Distinguish SMTP handoff and provider delivery from inbox placement.
- Trigger the real WordPress event you need: a password reset, Contact Form 7 notification, or WooCommerce order/customer email. A generic test does not prove that specific event fires.
When something still fails
Could not authenticate
Check that the username is exactly parcelwing, not your WordPress login or your sender email address. Use an active Parcel Wing API key as the SMTP password, not your dashboard password. Re-save the connection after rotating a key.
Could not connect to SMTP host
Confirm smtp.parcelwing.com and port 587 with TLS, not implicit SSL on port 465. If the connection times out before authentication, check whether your WordPress host allows outbound TCP 587.
A sender or domain is rejected
The From Email should use a domain you have added and verified for sending in Parcel Wing. SMTP authentication alone does not authorize every email address or unrelated From domain. Check the domain's observed-versus-expected DNS records in the dashboard.
Test email works, but order or password reset mail is missing
A WP Mail SMTP test proves the common transport, not that WordPress or WooCommerce generated a particular message. Inspect the triggering account/order event, recipient, and WordPress settings before changing SMTP again.
SMTP says sent, but the recipient doesn't see the message
Check Parcel Wing's event history for acceptance, delivery, rejection or bounce. A successful SMTP handoff does not prove inbox placement: a receiving provider can place accepted email in spam or another folder.
For a site-specific missing message, use our password-reset troubleshooting guide or WooCommerce email troubleshooting checklist. To inspect published DNS authentication records before signup, try the free SPF and DMARC checker; it cannot prove an individual email will reach the inbox.
Ready to connect your site?
Create your Parcel Wing workspace, verify your sending domain, then enter the SMTP settings above in the WP Mail SMTP plugin you already have. You can validate the connection before switching important WordPress email to a new provider.
